In this public lecture from October 2018 Dr Emily Petherick, Senior Lecturer in Epidemiology and Biostatistics at Loughborough University, presents an overview of the social determinants of health. She discusses how, despite radical advances in public health over the last century, we still see radical differences in life expectancy and health outcomes depending on where you are born and reside within the UK.
The lecture also looks at how physical activity and the wider determinants of health have the potential to be an important contributor to reductions in health inequalities.
