The next event in the NCSEM seminar series will feature the latest research into the use of exercise to treat chronic disease.
Over 15 million people in the UK suffer from one or more long-term condition with an estimated cost to the nation in excess of £6 billion. Evidence shows that exercise is effective in the treatment and management of chronic disease.
Current research is exploring both tailoring interventions for specific conditions and patient groups and also addressing wider questions about how we integrate physical activity into patient management pathways, so that many more patients can benefit from being more active than at present.
The one-day seminar will explore some of the ways that exercise is being integrated into care pathways as well as covering the novel approach being developed by the NCSEM to promote exercise prescription in Sheffield.
