Dr Emily Petherick, Lecturer in Epidemiology and Biostatistics at Loughborough University, will present an NCSEM public lecture this October.
The talk will present an overview of the social determinants of health to discuss how, despite radical advances in public health over the last century, we still see radical differences in life expectancy and health outcomes depending on where you are born and reside within the UK.
It will also look at how physical activity and the wider determinants of health have the potential to be an important contributor to reductions in health inequalities.
Dr Emily Petherick has a first degree in Physical Activity (Victoria University, Melbourne), a Masters in Public Health (University of Melbourne) and a PhD in Epidemiology (University of York). She is a social epidemiologist and biostatistician whose research investigates how social factors influence health over the life course and works at Loughborough as a lecturer in epidemiology and biostatistics.
